October 2015 Newsletter
We are thirteen months from a Republican winning the White House… so now you know how I mark my calendar. While 2015 may be closing out, 2016 promises to be a busy, and very important, year for all of us. We in Texas know how to put Republicans in every top job in Texas, now we need to do it nationally as well. I know that each of you will play a role……you will get involved and make a difference as you always do.
Our big “Roaring 20’s” Fundraiser is fast approaching – it’s only a month away. We need lots of underwriters and donors for the auction items to make it a success. Please consider participating in the auction – funds raised help us to contribute to Republican candidates. There is plenty of information on the VRW website and watch for more on email. Remember, it takes all of us to make this club successful!
Another exciting improvement is that, beginning at the October meeting, we will be accepting credit cards for DUES payments (sorry, not lunch). That is the same meeting at which we will begin accepting memberships (new or renewals) for 2016. Dues are $55; discounted to $50 if you pay by cash or a check. I understand that our Membership Chair, Marilyn Davis, will be doing something special in November – you have to have joined or renewed for 2016 by the November meeting to participate!
For our November meeting, our theme will be a Salute to Veterans. In addition to inviting veterans as our guests, we would like to honor the family of our club members who have served by creating a slide show. If you or a family member has served, I would love to include their photos in the slide show. I am looking for the photo that all service members have taken, but will take others if necessary; I want to highlight their service. Please send me a JPEG file via email ([email protected]) and name the file with the service member’s name. I also need to know which branch he/she served in, when he or she served and his/her relationship to you.
Finally, I must give a big thank you to our member Pam Goodson and her husband, Doug, who generously underwrote the entire cost of this year’s directory. We appreciate Pam and Doug and their commitment to Village Republican Women.
