What a great month July was! The enthusiasm surrounding our country’s 250th
birthday was wonderful, fun, and energizing. Our club can now head into August
full speed ahead, rested and ready. With November right around the corner, we
need to be in high gear. We are all aware of the difficult political landscape of this
general election season, and make no mistake, now’s the time for all hands on

Our 65th Anniversary luncheon was truly a joyful and meaningful event! Thank you to all who
worked so hard to make it a huge success and to all who attended. Personally, I feel blessed and
grateful that we have such an impactful club with a historic legacy. More importantly, we sincerely
care for each other and are friends.

Our April meeting was truly one for the history books. Village members were proud to welcome
Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Dustin Burrows, whose remarks celebrated recent
legislative achievements while outlining a clear vision for Texas’s future. I personally enjoyed
the opportunity to introduce Speaker Burrows to the rich legacy within our membership. Penny
Remick and her daughter Lindsay Hughes are direct descendants of Sam Houston, while Joyce
Ellington is a great grandniece of Mirabeau Lamar.
