Member of the Month — Nancy Lucke
Congratulations to Nancy Lucke, Member of the Month for April. Nancy is a native Houstonian, a graduate of St. John’s School and the University of Colorado where she became a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Phi Beta Kappa.
She married Joel in 1962 and together they raised sons David and Glenn and daughter, Laura. All three children are married and raising her seven outstanding grand children (grandmothers are allowed to say that — aren’t they?)
Nancy has worked in a variety of capacities including receptionist for two major companies in downtown Houston, taught Texas history at Cullen Jr. High and Weather & Climate at Alvin Junior College. She has waited tables and cleaned summer cottages, served on the Sakowitz College Board and did part time modeling for them.
Nancy has worked as a real estate agent for over 25 years making many wonderful friends as a bonus for good service.
A volunteer at heart, she has taught Sunday School, served as Nursery Chairman, contributed to the Pastoral Care Dept. as a Presbyterian Elder and Lay Hospital Chaplain.
Nancy has been an active member of VRW for over 20 years, serving as President and Program Chair. She is also a member of Texans for Immigration Reduction and Enforcement and an active member of the Blue Bird Circle where she has enjoyed working in the Resale Shop for 32 years.
Volunteer tutoring at Housmann Elementary School for over 10 years has been a rewarding experience and lately she has transferred that activity to the Nehemiah Center where she has worked with at-risk children for 3 years.
Nancy is grateful for the many friends she has enjoyed throughout the years, a wonderful family and a host of worthwhile activities that “keep her out the pool hall” — boredom is not allowed!
