John R HaysWith almost 40 years in the practice of energy and natural resource law, Mr. John R. Hays, Jr. brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to the ongoing issue of how best to secure America’s energy independence.

May’s program will focus on giving a fact-driven overview of our energy sources, its uses, paths to energy independence and what might be in store for the future. So, if you have any interest in or questions about the Keystone Pipeline, newly discovered shale plays, our local oil & gas industry or alternative energy sources, you will want to be in attendance on May 22nd.

John Hays has a unique background in government, academia, and the private practice of law. His government experience began when he served as an Examiner (Administrative Law Judge) with the Railroad Commission of Texas. He practiced law as a partner with the firm now known as Scott, Douglass & McConnico prior to founding a law firm in 1986, where he served as Managing Partner until the end of 1991. Since that time, he has continued to practice in Austin and in 2002 joined in the formation of Hays & Owens. He received his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1974 and his B.A. from Rice University in 1971 with a major in economics and business administration.
