April Meeting – Mental Health and our Criminal Justice System

Rep James WhitePlease join Village Republican Women at our April 25th meeting to hear Texas House of Representatives Corrections Committee Chairman, State Representative James White (HD-19), speak about “Mental Health and our Criminal Justice System.”

First elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2010, Chairman White also sits on the International Trade & Intergovernmental Affairs and Opioid & Substance Abuse committees. He previously served on the County Affairs, Agriculture and Livestock, Human Trafficking, Juvenile Justice and Family Issues, Emerging Issues in Law Enforcement, Transportation Planning, and Mental Health committees.

A native Houstonian, Chairman White attended Houston ISD public schools, graduated with honors from Prairie View A&M University and completed his doctorate in political science at the University of Houston.

As a commissioned United States Army Infantry officer, his service included an assignment with the Berlin Brigade from 1987-90 during the demise of the Soviet Union. After leaving the Army with an Honorable Discharge in 1992, Rep. White began a career as a public school educator.
