April Meeting – Meet Candidates & Jim Murphy

State Representative Jim MurphyYou will get a chance to meet the candidates for the May 27 run-off primary. Following will be a presentation by The Honorable Jim Murphy, “Front Line Leaders – Republican Women Leading the Charge in Battleground Texas.”

Jim Murphy serves in the Texas House, representing District 133 in West Houston. Jim was first elected in 2006 and is running for re-election in November.

Representative Murphy serves on the Committees for Small Business and Economic Development and Higher Education. He also serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Manufacturing.

In this past session Representative Murphy passed key legislation that expands our workforce and job opportunities for Texas students and provides critical tax incentives for research and development. Additional bills he authored and passed allowed for cost effective construction of hike and bike trails in Harris County and made significant reforms to our most successful economic development programs.

Jim’s legislative work has been recognized by the National Coalition for Capital, Texas Right to Life, Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas, and the Texas Association of Business.

For the past 20 years, Murphy has served as one of the driving forces of Westchase District – the 4.2 square mile business district in west Houston.
